Looking to find a new home for your dog? We may be able to help. Reach out to usSend us an email to info@jakeswishrescue.org with the following information. The more information you provide, the faster we’ll be able to determine if we can help. Please note, we are not able to take in every dog that we are approached about, but if we feel confident we can help, we will make every effort to do so.
Behavior assessmentIf we think we might be able to help based on the info you’ve provided, we’ll set time to meet the dog, assess its temperament, and determine if we are able to bring the dog into our care. We may ask you to take care of some basic medical needs first. Foster careAfter meeting the dog, if we determine we are able to admit the dog into our adoption program, we will have you sign an owner surrender form that moves custody of the dog from you to our organization. We’ll take over any expenses for future medical care, food, and supplies while the dog waits to be adopted. Depending on the situation, the dog may either stay with you or move to a foster home while we search for a new adopter. If the dog moves into foster care and you have provided all previous medical records, your responsibilities are complete. The goal for all of our dogs is to find the right fit for the dog and the future family. We do this through an adoption application and interview process. AdoptionOnce we have found a potential adopter that is a good match for the dog, we will set time for them to meet. A Jake’s Wish representative will conduct this meet and greet and we will decide if it’s the right fit. If it’s the right fit, we will complete an adoption contract with the new adopter. If the new adopter would like to share their contact information with you, we will share it with you so you can be in touch. Contact information sharing is at the new adopter’s discretion. As part of our adoption contract, if things don’t work out for the dog and the new adopter, the dog must be returned to our organization. From there, we will bring the dog into foster care and look for a new family. Part of our mission is that any dog that comes into our care will not be homeless in the future. Once a Jake’s Wish dog, always a Jake’s Wish dog. FAQs:How quickly can you help me? The more information you provide, the quicker we can get to work. We need time to evaluate the details you provided, meet with the dog, agree to take it into our care, and find a foster home. Based on foster home availability, this could be 1 day or several weeks. Is there a rehoming fee? There is not a rehoming fee at this time. We just ask that you don’t hide any information from us that would prevent your dog from getting future medical or behavioral care as soon as possible. |
