Shanti is a 7 year old Havanese/Poodle mix. This girl is quite a lover. Her favorite thing to do is sit with her foster family and get belly rubs while watching TV. Shanti just wants to be with her people. She definitely lives up to her Havanese roots in that she is a "velcro dog" so wherever you go she will be only a few steps away.
Shanti currently lives in a foster home with children in the 7-10 yr old range and she loves the kids. Shanti's perfect home would be one that provides a couple of walks a day and lots of snuggles and belly rubs. She will be your foot warmer at night and your constant companion. If you are looking for a hiking buddy, a dog to play fetch with the kids or someone to keep the resident dog entertained Shanti is not your girl. Don't get us wrong, Shanti does very well with other dogs and doesn't have a mean bone in her body but she won't be participating in any doggie rough housing.
Because of her poor nutrition and lack of exercise before we rescued her our poor girl has a few pounds to shed. She is now receiving the exercise she needs and the proper nutrition and is on her way to her bathing suit figure. Shanti also was just diagnosed with a Grade 2 heart murmur during her last routine check up which does not cause her any problems and she has no symptoms. She doesn't take any medications for it.
