Meet Tolee! He’s a 12 pound, 2 year old, Japanese Spitz who joined us last week from South Korea! Tolee had a rough start, but is now ready for forever home he deserves.

This little guy was raised by an abusive elderly couple who kept him on a 12 inch chain. He was not able to turn around and spent much of his time trapped in his own filth. For food, he received inedible scraps to survive on. After a neighbor called to report the abuse, rescue workers in South Korea took custody of him, treated his skin sores, and got him the veterinary care he needed to fly to America.

When we were contacted to help get him into foster care, we got to work and Tolee and 4 other dogs joined the Jake’s Wish family! After this beautiful pup got off the plane, he trotted around without a care in the world! He is resilient, confident, and a happy-go-lucky guy.

Tolee loves a good snack and is willing to work for it. This smart boy is quickly perfecting house training in his new environment and has mastered "sit." He is a pro on the leash and even knows how to get himself untangled after his 20th pee break, (when really we all know there is nothing left in the tank.) Tolee enjoys being brushed, which is a good thing considering that he always has some sort of leaves stuck to his fluffy legs. He'll require occasional grooming to keep his coat clean and soft. He's good with people and other dogs, though so far he likes to do his own thing at the dog park. We think Tolee could happily live with a laid-back dog, but one that wouldn't be bothered by his energy.

Speaking of which, Tolee loves to go on long walks, immediately followed by a trip to the dog park. He has endless energy! He will need an active family who will be able to give him the exercise and direction he needs. This could mean doggie-daycare, accompanying you to work, agility classes, and the like. Without enough playtime, he tends to hump and nip to expend his extra energy. For this reason, he’ll do best in a home with teenage kids, if any. With enough exercise, Tolee is a total lovebug who will give you snuggles and kisses.
