Scott is a 4 month old Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix who is ready to play! He loves going on long walks through the park, playing with rope toys, and chewing the limbs off of his stuffed animals. He's a smart pup who is excelling at potty training and crate training.
As a 30+ pound puppy, he's got big puppy teeth. And as a herding breed, his nipping instinct is stronger than in other puppies. He needs continued work on his manners so he knows how to control his nervous or excited energy in a way that keeps his teeth away from skin.
Scott is also currently working on his sensitivity to cars. Whether parked, or moving, they can be scary while on a walk, so Scott puts on the brakes. With encouragement and consistency we think this young guy can learn that cars aren't an instant threat.
Because he's a super intelligent, and sometimes stubborn pup, he's looking for a family with herding or strong breed experience. If there are any kids in the household, they must be high school age or older and be assertive leaders who read dog body language well enough to prevent and correct nipping behaviors.
Scott will do well in a home with a confident and well-mannered large dog who can show him the way. If given the chance, Scott will run the household, so it's important that boundaries are clear and maintained so he grows into the best adult dog he can be!
