Meet Mabel! This sweet but very shy 1 year old, Maltipoo girl came to us after her person passed away and she found herself in need of a new home. When Mabel first came into our care she was extremely shy and would cower or run away if we tried to pick her up.  It was clear she was not given the socialization she needed when she was a puppy. Lucky for her our best "shy dog" foster was available and ready to take her in. Fast forward a week and she is running zoomies in the back yard and willingly coming to her foster mom for snuggles and pets. Mabel is still a bit cautious with men and isn't 100% comfortable with leash walks, things going over her head or quick movements but she's feeling more comfortable and secure each day so we know with the right forever home she will flourish and be an amazing pooch for one lucky family.  That family will need to be patient and willing to allow her time to decompress and trust them before expecting her to want to sit near them or want to be loved. We will not be placing her in a home with children under the age of 10 or children who are not dog savvy. It's not that she couldn't learn to love younger children in her home it's the extra traffic with parties and sleepovers that children bring to the home that would be difficult for Mabel to get used to. She would love to have another confident dog in the home but it isn't a necessity. She would be happy to be your one and only too. At 12 pounds and a non shedding coat she would make the perfect companion for those that have allergies or prefer a no shed pooch. She will however require regular grooming to keep that pretty apricot coat in tip top shape. If you are ready to put in a little extra work to give Mabel the time she needs, have a quiet, kid free home and want an eventual Velcro pup that will love you more than a bag of stinky soft liver treats send us an application to be considered.
